Estes Comanche 3 - Skill Level 3
Comanche-3 Model Rocket Kit from Estes
A high flying 3 stage model rocket kit!
When two stages simply aren't enough, try three! First a D12-0* motor first stage booster gets things going in a hurry. Comanche roars to altitudes of over half a mile!
On days when recovery would be dodgy for a altitude record attempt, you can de-tune Comanche by substituting an A8-5 or a B6-6 for the C6-7 top stage. Three stages are three times as much fun!
And if you are really interested in an altitude record... D9-0 second stage and D9-7 on top will get you closer to the Mile High Club. Add a D9-0 booster to the bottom stage with a 18 > 24mm motor adapter and get you binoculars out!
Dual streamer recovery brings this awesome rocket back to earth with tumble recovery for the boosters. Straight forward assembly and a day or so of your time and you’re ready for lift-off! Three Estes standard model rocket engines will have you searching the skies for this one!
WHAT YOU NEED TO BUILD: Scissors, pencil, ruler, fine sandpaper, carpenter’s glue, plastic cement, hobby knife, masking tape, clear tape, primer (white), paint (red, orange, yellow). (Tools, construction and finishing supplies not included.)
WHAT YOU NEED TO LAUNCH (sold separately):Launch Pad and Launch Controller, model rocket engines, starters and recovery wadding. Four 1.5V high quality AA alkaline batteries are also required for launch controller (not included).
Note: You have to use a MaxiRod with this bird... don't think of using that skinny little starter kit rod! Best is the Klima Air Launcher with a 6mm rod.
HINT: Recovering all the stages makes Comanche launches a real team effort! And may require a pair of binoculars!
Recommended engines:
For single-stage flights : A8-3 (first flight), B4-4, B6-4, C6-5
For Three-Stage Flights: First stage Booster: D12-0 or D9-0 with adapter
Second stage Booster: C6-0, D9-0
Third stage: B6-6, C6-7 or hold on to your hat D9-7
